Harbor Country: meet our people. Our people: meet Harbor Country.

Eat

  • The Butler: A great watering hole with solid food right in the heart of downtown. Great for groups.

  • Pennyroyal: Perhaps our top recommendation - and right next to Ivy House! Grab a locally-sourced breakfast (but be prepared to wait!) or get a reservation for dinner.

  • Salt of the Earth: A Gresge family dinner favorite in nearby Fennville with food so fresh you’d think they picked it that day. Reservations recommended.

  • Crane’s Pie Pantry: A casual lunch spot nestled among Crane’s orchards with cozy comfort food and great pies. Stop by on your way home to bring a baked good with you for the road!

  • Farmhouse Deli: Part provisions, part breakfast, part lunch — Farmhouse has excellent food no matter what you’re looking for.

  • Everyday People: Nestled in downtown Douglas, this is a favorite among locals known for excellent food.

Play

  • Check out downtown Saugatuck: We chose Saugatuck because it’s the Stars Hollow of the Midwest (IYKYK). The town is dotted with cute shops and great places to eat - it’s well-worth a stroll! Our favorites include Butler Pantry (get the cookies!) and Kindel and Co.

  • Imbibe!: We love the breweries, wineries and cideries that lend their charm to Southeast Michigan. They’re all picturesque and fun, but we have a few favorites: Virtue (a cidery that doubles as a farm and has greenhouses you can eat in!), Saugatuck Brewing (right near town!) and Fenn Valley Vineyards (across the street from Virtue!) are a great place to start.

  • Hike Mount Baldhead: See that golf ball looking thing overlooking Lake Kalamazoo? That’s the top of Mount Baldhead, and it’s a great trail for a quick workout or photo op.

  • Experience Oval Beach: Named one of the Top 25 Beaches in the World by Condé Nast, Oval Beach is a gorgeous vingnette of Michigan’s beautiful coastline - even in the fall!

  • Pop by Lulu Cadieux: This adorable shop has beautiful treasures to peruse, and can set up charcuterie or an afternoon tea for your group. They also have cooking classes!

Drink

  • Wally’s: We’ve heard this is the place to be after-hours! It’s also the unofficial site of the unofficial after party (wink!).

  • Coral Gables Piano Bar: Need we say more?

  • Uncommon Coffee Roasters: One of our favorite cozy spots to get your caffeine fix.

  • The Cottage at Wicks: A new, gorgeously-designed cocktail bar great for a pre- or post-festivity drink.

  • Tree of Life Juice: Our go-to for juices, smoothies and coffee (you’ll thank us for this one on Saturday morning).
